After a 3 year lay off, Lucas Price returns with a new body of work via his sometime alter ego, Cyclops.
Having built a trademark system of working into traditional fine portraiture, with raw, unfinished mark making, Price has taken this combination and pushed it forward.
In this new series, Price used the model Moffy as a canvas, painting directly onto her skin which was then captured in a photo shoot. These images were then painted, compressing the raw mark making and the process of tight photo realism into one image…after which new marks were “tattooed" via airbrush onto the surface of the painting.
Price’ new Cyclops images push the scale and ambition of his previous work considerably, staking out new territory and potential for his ongoing portraiture series.
